The Early Music Festival

On February 23rd, 2013, on Defender of the Fatherland Day, the Menshikov Palace hosted the opening of the Early Music festival. The Orchestra of Catherine the Great, under the direction of Andrei Reshetin presented music from the time of Anna Ioannovna, under whose rule the first cadet corps was founded. The audience was made up of students at the military educational institutions of Saint Petersburg. This festival belongs to a series of Hermitage events dedicated to the 400-year anniversary of the House of Romanov. It was opened by the director of the Hermitage, M.B. Piotrovsky.
