For the Day of the Hermitage Ņat - 2013
Cats of Theophile Alexandre Steinlen

On April 5, 2013 in the Hermitage Theatre Lobby as a part of celebration of the Day of the Hermitage Cat the exhibition representing two famous posters of Theophile Steinlen (1859-1923), a French painter, graphic artist and illustrator, was opened. These are "Sterilized pure milk from the Vingeanne" and a poster of solo exhibition of the artist.

Both pieces of art were made in 1894, and they contain the techniques from which later the art of advertising poster developed. Steinlen was a wonderful graphic artist and a famous animalist, his images of cats are considered among the best. In these two works he depicted his own cats. The pieces of art by Steinlen will be exhibited in the the Hermitage Theatre Lobby up to April 14.
