Russian President and 40 Foreign Heads of State Visit the Hermitage

On 31 May, 2003, Russian President Vladimir Putin and 40 foreign heads of state taking part in the celebration of the St. Petersburg Tercentenary visited the Hermitage. The Russian President and his guests entered the museum from Palace Square through the new entrance opened on 27 May, 2003, the City’s Birthday. The heads of state visited an exhibition dedicated to Peter the Great, the founder of St. Petersburg. Guests were taken for a tour of the museum by Mikhail B. Piotrovsky, Director of the Hermitage.
