The Age of Peter the Great Through Its Characters

Participating in the conference were curators of the State Hermitage Museum. The themes of the reports were focused on different problems concerning political and diplomatic affairs, the state system of the Russian Empire, the history of St. Petersburg, the history of establishing and creating the collections of the Chamber of Curiosities - the first Russian public museum. Some of the reports were devoted to the brilliant personalities of the early 18th century, Peter the Greatrsquo;s close associates and representatives of different professions, who contributed considerably to the reforms that took place at this crucial for the Russian history period of time
