The joint project will include the following activities:

• scholarly probation of the specialists from the Hermitage Museum and the Tatarstan Republic in the spheres of history, culture, museum activities, and restoration in the Hermitage Museum and research centres, museums and libraries of the Tatarstan Republic;
• scholarly conferences, seminars and meetings;
• exhibitions of works of art from the Hermitage collections (participation of other world museums is also possible) in the museums and exhibition centres of the Tatarstan Republic;
• special consultations of the scholars and restorers from the Hermitage Museum to the specialists from the Tatarstan Republic;
• publication of the results of joint scholarly researches;
• joint archaeological researches and activities on preservation and conservation;
• support of scholarly projects in the universities; exchange of students from St Petersburg State University and Kazan State University;
• development and production of education TV programmes and video films on the problems of the world history;
• support of joint projects of the State Hermitage Museum and other scholarly centres and cultural institutions of the Tatarstan Republic.

All joint projects will be defined in the course of mutual consultations of specialists. The Project will be supervised by Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director of the Hermitage Museum, I. G. Tarkhanov, Minister of Culture of the Tatarstan Republic, and R. S. Khakimov, Director of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan Republic. A co-ordinating council will be organised to prepare and carry out the Project. The Council will consist of the representatives from the State Hermitage Museum, the Ministry of Culture of the Tatarstan Republic, the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan Republic and the Permanent Representatives of the Tatarstan Republic in St Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
