The International Conference XX Century Art. Achievements, Traditions and Innovations

The international conference XX Century Art. Achievements, Traditions and Innovations held in the Hermitage became an importatnt event in the Museum life. 70 leading scientists from different countries - Russia, USA, France, Germany, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Japan - took part in the conference. The conference opened on 1 of December in the Hermitage Theatre. Director of the State Hermitage M.B.Piotrovsky addressed the participants with indroductory words. Sessions of the conference were devoted to different topics and problems of the XX century art: The Art Museum, Art and Modern-day Society. The Present and the Future, Prominent XX Century Artists, Problems of the Theory and Aesthetics of Visual Art ,National Stories in XX Century Art, Current Problems in Contemporary Art. Results and Prospects. The conference was organised by the State Hermitage and Pro Art Institute and sponsored by the Institute Open Society Assistance Foundation.
