Spanish Nights On 20 November, 2001, the Spanish Sky-light Hall of the New Hermitage became the venue for the concert "Music and Painting." The concert was a part of the program of the 4th International Festival of Spanish Music "Spanish Nights" organized by the Hermitage Music Academy, State Hermitage Museum and Hermitage Music Academy Foundation. The State Hermitage's St. Petersburg Camerata Orchestra was conducted by Alexis Soriano, the founder and manager of the Festival of Spanish Music annually held in St. Petersburg. The Spanish Sky-light Hall hosted the world premiere of German A. Beigbeder's G Minor Symphony for a String Orchestra and Joaquin Turina's Toreador's Prayer. On 22 November, 2001, the Hermitage Theater hosted a concert of the Modern Music series. The State Hermitage's St. Petersburg Camerata Orchestra conducted by Tugan Sokhiyev presented music of modern Spanish composers. David de Selda's composition Russian Poem was played for the first time. |
