Premiere in the Hermitage Theater On 22 March, 2003, in the Hermitage Theater the Russian-American Musical Festival presented the premiere of the musical Captains Daughter written by the famous St. Petersburg composer Andrey Petrov inspired by Alexander Pushkins novel of the same title. Libretto and verses for the musical were written by the young US poet Adel Aronheim with participation of Albina Shulgina. The musical is staged by Neil Donaghue, one of Americas leading modern producers. The project was incepted in 1995 at the Eugene ONeill Theater Center in Waterford, Connecticut. In 1996 the ONeill Center presented the first version of the musical at the National Conference of Musical Theaters. Then the concert version was showed on Broadway, winning the recommendation of production at one of Broadway theaters, while the preliminary version was presented at the Boston Conservatory. Scenes from the musical were showed by the Russian-American Musical Festival in St. Petersburg. The same Festival on 22 March, 2003, presented its international premiere in the Hermitage Theater in St. Petersburg. Broadway actors who took part in the production of Captains Daughter in St. Petersburg had starred in world-famous musicals in New York. These are Dennis Parlato (Sounds of Music), Paul Candel (Jesus Christ Superstar), Christa Jastas (The Outcasts), Larry Cate (Cabaret), Christian Tisdale (Titanic) and others. The project was financially supported by the Rockfeller Foundation for Mutual Understanding, American Express, Finnair, Russian Ministry of Culture, The State Hermitage Museum, Union of Composers of the Russian Federation, Hotel Europe, OOO "Aquastar", Russian Standard and Sindbad Travel.
