The Opening of the Season for the St Petersburg English Club in the Menshikov Palace

Since its rebirth, it has become a tradition for the St Petersburg English Club to open its seasons in the Menshikov Palace. On 1 October 2001 the Great Hall of the Menshikov Palace was the venue for a formal reception to mark the opening of the fourth — 2001–02 — season. People’s Artist of Russia Andrey Petrov, a member of the club’s Board of Trustees presented a new anthem for the St Petersburg English Club.

At the reception new members were presented with their cards, while those celebrating a jubilee were honoured. The guests were treated to an excursion around the Menshikov Palace. The keynotes of the 2001–02 season for the St Petersburg English Club is to be a return to the historical traditions of the club and preparations for the 300th anniversary of the founding of St Petersburg.
