The Hermitage Friends' Day

On 8 December, the museum celebrated the Hermitage Friends' Day. Special program was prepared for members of the International Hermitage Friends' Club. Members of the Club were showed the Augustus Hall, recently opened to the public, whose restoration and renovation were supported by the program of reconstruction of the ancient world exhibition and personally by Mrs. Jayne Wrightsman (U.S.A.). Friends of the museum also saw the Rubens and Snyders rooms, currently under restoration. They visited the Internet Center which resulted from a joint project launched by the State Hermitage Museum and ZAO CafeMax. The project was also supported by Samsung Electronics, IBM and Coca Cola which have a long record of cooperation with the Hermitage. Members of the Club had a meeting with Director Mikhail B. Piotrovsky in the Hermitage Theater. The same day sponsors of the State Hermitage Museum were officially commended and awarded medals. The Hermitage Friends' Day finished with a concert of the St. Petersburg Camerata Orchestra.
