Hermitage Friends' Club Meets

On 11 April, 2002, the Hermitage Friends' Club had its meeting. Hermitage Friends visited the exhibition of Claude Monet (1840-1926) in the General Staff showing 45 works from 14 museums of the world. 8 paintings are loaned by the State Hermitage Museum, 9, by the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow. Some works of Claude Monet come from private German collections kept at the Hermitage, others are loaned by museums of France, Britain, Germany, Switzerland and United States.

Claude Monet's heritage shows the outstanding artist's unrelenting creative quest. Creator of an epoch in art, he managed to express in his works a special idea of the world plunging the audience into his own course of time, different from the astronomical one, full of never ending search for the fugitive images and aspiration to capture their minute shades.
