Seminar

On 8 April, 2002, the 11th Colloquium of the Jewelry Seminar opened at the State Hermitage Museum. Participants were welcomed by T.I. Zagrebina, Senior Custodian of the Hermitage. Seminar Director N.A. Zakharova presented the 11th Colloquium program and the results of 6 years of the Seminar's work (it was created in April 1996). Museum workers and art historians from the Hermitage and other museums and institutions of Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States took part in the Colloquium. Presentations were made by Elisabeth Strak, gem specialist from Hamburg, Germany, and Fritz Falk, Director of the Museum of Decorations in Pforzheim, Germany.
Presentations addressed various aspects of jeweler's art from its origins (archeological finds) to the contemporary production. Colloquium participants visited exhibitions and collections of the State Hermitage Museum and palaces of Gatchina and Tsarskoye Selo.
