History of Construction Ceramics in Antiquity and Middle Ages Seminar

On 14 and 15 May, 2002, the State Hermitage Museum hosted a seminar on the history of construction ceramics in Antiquity and Middle Ages. Oleg M. Ioannisyan, Director of the Architecture and Archeology Department, made a welcoming address to the participants. The Hermitage staff and guests from museums, academic institutions and organizations of Russia and former Soviet Union took part in the seminar. Presentations dealt with various aspects of the study of the history of ancient and medieval architectural monuments of Eurasia.
An exhibition of medieval Russian construction ceramics from the collection of the Hermitage Architecture and Archeology Department was held in the room where the seminar took place.
