Negotiations Held on Return of Stained Glass from St. Mary's Church in Frankfurt-an-der-Oder

On 28 May, 2002, the State Hermitage Museum held negotiations with representatives of Germany's Culture Ministry on the return of the 14th century stained glass from St. Mary's Church in Frankfurt-an-der-Oder. The stained glass was taken to the Soviet Union in 1946 after WWII and is now kept at the State Hermitage Museum. In April 2002 the museum finished the restoration of 15 fragments which occupied three windows in the Church's altar.
On 5 April, 2002, the State Duma adopted a law on returning 111 stained glass fragments from St. Mary's Church to Germany. On 10 April, 2002, the Federation Council in its meeting approved the law of the State Duma.
