Concert in memory of Boris Piotrovsky
On 27 June the Hermitage Theater hosted the 10th International Festival
of Music ''Palaces of St Petersburg'' presented by a concert in memory of
Boris Piotrovsky.
Academician Boris B. Piotrovsky, an outstanding archeologist and major
specialist in the history and archeology of the Ancient East and Caucasus,
from 1964 to 1990 was director of the State Hermitage Museum.
The ''St Petersburg'' Trio Maria Safaryantz (violin), Leonid Shukayev (cello)
and Sergey Uryvayev (piano) and Yerevan Chamber Choir conducted by Arutyun
Topikyan (Armenia) performed Tchaikovsky. Trio in Memory of the Great
Artist; Komitas. Fragments of the Liturgy. Chants for the Washing
of the Feet and the Consecration of Water.
