3rd Congress of Russian Orientalists

On 3 September, 2002, the Hermitage Theater housed a plenary meeting of the 3rd Congress of Russian Orientalists which took place in St. Petersburg from 3 to 6 September, 2002, attended by representatives of academic institutions from Russia and other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Presentations addressed the activities of the Society of Orientalists of the Russian Academy of Sciences and preparation of the International Congress of Orientalists programmed to take place in Moscow in 2004. Delegates discussed links between Russian academic institutions, international cooperation, research projects and the creation of a unified information space in Oriental studies.
