Meeting of the Hermitage Friends' Club. "Legends and myths attached to the Peacock Clock"

On 3 April 2001, the Hermitage invited members of the Hermitage Friends’ Club living locally to another of the club’s regular meetings. These gatherings are organized at a convenient time in the evening after the museum has closed to visitors.
On this occasion the Friends assembled in the Pavilion Hall to the sounds of classical music. Mikhail Piotrovsky, the Hermitage director, gave a short speech of welcome. Then Yuna Zek, a senior research worker and curator of the bronze collection, introduced the members of the club to one of the museum’s first exhibits - the Peacock Clock - and spoke about its remarkable history. Following her talk, the clock was wound up for the guests.
