Scientific Conference (Readings) in Memory of Vladimir Levinson-Lessing (1893 - 1972)

The annual readings held on 23-24 October, 2002, commemorated the outstanding scholar Vladimir Frantsevich Levinson-Lessing who had worked at the Hermitage for half a century. Participants were welcomed by the Hermitage Director Mikhail B. Piotrovsky. Alongside the Hermitage representatives, scholars from the Tsarskoye Selo Museum, Russian Institute of History of Arts (St. Petersburg), Institute of Silicate Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg) and Centre Louis Gernet (Paris) took part in the readings. Presentations addressed various aspects of the history of world arts.
