"For the Service and Valour"
Military Order of St George the Great Martyr and Vanquisher

The exhibition is devoted to the Order of St George the Vanquisher, the first Russian decoration divided into classes ( there were four of them) and awarded for certain military feats, which made it more democratic in comparison with the orders established earlier. The history of the order began on 26 November 1769 when Catherine the Great signed the statute of the Military Order of St George the Great Martyr and Vanquisher. The exhibition features badges of the order of different classes and stars of the late 18th to the early 20th centuries, decorations for soldiers and under-officers, medals and decoration ribbons. The Order of Glory established during the Great Patriotic war to continue the glorious tradition of the St George Order opens the display of the modern awards and commemoration medals bearing the St George ribbon in their ornamental design. On 2 March, 1992 The Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Russian Federation enacted "to restore the military Russian Order of St George and the badge of the order the "St George Cross". The decree of the President of the Russian Federation of 8 August, 2000 established the statute of the Order of St George, the statute of the badge the "St George Cross" and their description. On show are portraits of Catherine II and the bearers of the order, items from the dinner service devoted to the Order and Order statutes. The exhibition also includes decoration arms with the symbols of St George and St George standards
