The Hermitage Celebrates International Children’s Day On 1 June, 2003, the International Children’s Day, in the Hermitage, the Peter the Great’s Legacy Charity presented the action "From Children of Russia to Children of Europe on the Occasion of the St. Petersburg Tercentenary". 175 children from 1.5 to 18 years old who came to the Hermitage from all over Russia, carved on a reconstructed lathe of Peter I a medallion bearing the inscription "PETER THE GREAT, EMPEROR AND AUTOCRAT", intended as a gift to a European children’s organization. |
