Vase featuring a flower, leaves and twining stems of clematis

Mount: cast, chased and engraved silver

Height: 19.8 cm; diameter: 9.7 cm

Acquired in 1931 from the Winter Palace

This piece was never repeated. It belongs to the group of works that became known as verreries parlantes. The body of the vase bears lines from Baudelaire's poem Levitation.

The 1909 inventory places it in the study of Empress Alexandra Fiodorovna.
