Mould-blown: two-layed glass: clear with metal oxide additions (blue, greem brown-black) and subdued pink. Multi-plane etching and engraving

Entered in 1931 from the Winter Palace (not yet part of the Hermitage)

Engraved inscription on the body: O beauté des choses, qui meurent! || Les grandes ailes de la mort || qui, sans les blesser, les effleurent || leur donne un charme plus fort... || Emile Hinzelin ["O, the beauty of things that perish. The great wings of death that touch without wounding give them a greater charm."]
