For this model Gallé himself planned a bronze mount in the form of lotus leaves. Alexandra Fiodorovna, however, preferred to commission a new, more opulent setting in silver from the Fabergé company in 1898. The work, carried out by Julius Rappoport, one of the company's finest masters, cost the Empress 200 roubles. |
