Floral decoration

The humble cornflower soon became firmly associated with royal decoration since Marie Antoinette chose to have her favourite flower used in the adornment of three royal services.

In the broad frieze with myrtle garlands on items from the service "à frise riche de Marie Antoinette" cornflowers alternate with roses and pansies.
