Chinoiserie subjects

The Sèvres artists creatively combined numerous chinoiserie subjects taken from a variety of sources and practically never made exact copies. For example, the "Chinese umbrellas" and "Chinese houses" that were particularly popular from 1792 may have been based on engravings by Jean Pillement.
