Borrowings from the Chinese and Japanese can be detected in the decoration of Vincennes porcelain of the 1750s. For example, the blue underglaze bleu lapis background was applied unevenly in order to imitate lapis-lazuli, while to heighten the similarity small speckles of gold were sometimes added. |
