Items from the service

The majority of workers at the factory were involved in the production of the "Russian service". Surviving drawings and sketches show the careful thought that went into the decoration of a service that contained some 800 pieces. Some shapes of tableware were conceived for the first time during the creation of the Cameo Service.

Together with the Russian Parnasus table ornament, a bust of Catherine II in the guise of the goddess Minerva and some small biscuit vases, the Cameo Service is a unique and perfect ensemble, one of the finest things ever produced in porcelain.
