The mechanism of the tower clock (model)

The mechanism of the tower clock dates from 1839. The clock consists of three elements (trains): one turns the hands, the second chimes the quarters, the third strikes the hours. All three trains are mounted within a rectangular cast-iron frame 118 cm long, 90 cm wide and 60 cm high. The clock employs the anchor escapement invented by the French clock-maker Amant in 1741. It uses a pendulum as a regulator and is wound three times a week.
