The art of Siam. 14th-19th centuries
Crowned Buddha Maravijaya (the head seen from behind) The crown fits snugly on the forehead due to long triangular projections that descend over the temples to the ears. An oval "back piece" covers the back of the head right down to the neck, reliably fixing the crown on the head. The tall conical pinnacle in the centre covers the ushnisha. The ketumala in the form of a stylized lotus bud is found only in the art of the North.
