Siamese sculpture in the Hermitage |

16th century Bronze, gilding, mother of pearl Height: 49 cm Despite the serious damage to the arms, it is nonetheless evident that the left one hung down alongside the body, while the right was raised and bent at the elbow: it conveyed the gesture of "reconciling relatives". The Buddha is dressed in the "closed manner". Still visible on his thighs is the edge of the antaravasaka and the beginning of the strip of folds between the legs. Also typical of Ayutthaya art are the tiny "pin-head" curls and the precise hemispherical ushnisha resembling an inverted cup.
