Bronze casting technique
First half of the 16th century Bronze, remnants of red lacquer and gilding Height: 56 cm The Buddha is seated on a cushion in the form of a lotus placed on an elongated hexagonal pedestal raised on three "legs". Legs of this sort are not parts of the pedestal but the remnants of casting channels (sprues), specially added to allow the molten wax to flow out. |
