Beneath the roof of the Winter Palace...
Prospects on the utilization of the attic space in the Hermitage buildings
The attic space with its own peculiar aesthetic formed over several centuries
is also an interesting artistic phenomenon awaiting discovery and recognition.
At the present time plans are being drawn up in the Hermitage for the
"reclamation" and conversion to museum use of this promising area in which
it will be possible to install various museum displays, lecture facilities
and club premises, cafÙs and small restaurants. Already underway is a
project for excursions that will introduce the general public to the attics
of the Winter Palace.
