This blue cobalt glass vase with decorative painting was
produced at the Imperial Glassworks to a design by Victor Hartmann for
the St Petersburg manufacturing exhibition of 1870. Its shape is that
of an earthenware pot for milk, but with a lid that was not a usual feature
of works made by common craftsmen. The design applied in enamel paints
imitates Russian folk embroidery.
