Clasp

The clasp of the snuff-box is decorated with the diamond-studded figure of an eagle with a laurel wreath in its beak. Possibly the eagle here is not only a symbol of victory, but also a kind of rebus for the owner's surname - Orlov derives from the Russian for "eagle".
