The cup in the form of a pear with a steam in the shape
of a tree trunk with a figure of a wood-cutter was executed in the 1590s
by the master Heinrich Jonas. The cup is characteristic of the last quarter
of the 16th century when Mannerism flourished and German artists revived
old national forms looking back to the epoch of late Gothic and Dürer.
Numerous vessels in the form of various fruits became along with Gothic
double lobing cups symbols of German traditional cups.
