The gilt silver cup in the shape of a reared bull was
made by the famous Nuremberg master Jeremias Ritter in the first quarter
of the 17th century. J. Ritter who came from a renowned family of Nuremberg
silversmiths known from the middle of the 16th century was one of the
leading masters of the first half of the 17th century. He was given important
commissions, among others, by the City Council, for which he made tall
standing cups. This figure cup shows that Ritter was an excellent sculptor
and modeller and a master of casting and chasing.
