Damascening on the shoulders of the ink-well

Damascening was a technique widely used in Russia from earliest times. In this method of inlay consisted small cuts were made in the surface of the metal to be decorated and then with the application of heat silver or gilded wire was hammered into the cuts to produce the required design.
