This grand candelabrum for four candles was produced by
Tula master smiths in the late 18th century. A distinctive feature of
its decoration is the use of very varied techniques: polishing, bluing,
faceting, chasing and gilding. The virtuoso decorative techniques employed
on this item made of steel - not, it would seem, a "jeweller's metal"
- have turned it into a luxury article.
