This piece was produced by Tula craftsmen in the middle
of the 18th century. Necessaires usually held different small toilet articles.
They could take a great variety of forms, but most commonly they were
flat, elaborately shaped cases that could be carried in a pocket or hung
on a broad chatelaine belt. The ornament that embellishes this item was
created in the rare relief design technique.
