Decoration of the vase

Bright and clear semitransparent enamels are characteristic for the Chinese 15th c. enamels. The turquoise enamel ground contrasts the other colours of the lotus flowers on the body, the chrysanthemum blossom on the foot. The camellia stems with red and white flowers decorate both sides of the neck. All flowers are of red, white, green, yellow, black and dark brown colours; and the patterns are outlined with gilded wires. The broken cylindrical handles at the top of the neck were replaced by the stylized phoenix handles made of bronze and champleve enamel at the end of the 16th - beginning of the 17th cc.
