The chiseled inscription

Twice repeated relief inscription of 22 archaic characters is chiseled inside the vessel and on the cover. The inscription can be interpreted as "Shi Qian cast /this/ precious vessel to perform his filial duties to his father and mother so that the eternal longevity would be showered on him, and his children and descendants would always be rich enough /to bring/ the offerings". This vessel with the inscription appears to be an ancient epigraphic document.
