Box and cover made of the finest silver open-work filigree
is a piece from the toilet set with mirror from the Hermitage collection.
The set is already mentioned in the list of 1789 of the precious objects
and belonged to Catherine the Great. The box could be used for gloves
or other trifles. It has the matching box in the set. The object is an
example of the Chinese export silver made after the European order in
the middle of the 18th c. As such pieces were very fine and fragile few
of them survived through the centuries, and they are very rare.
