This bell has been fashioned in the shape of the helmet
worn by the guards cuirassiers. It is not really convenient to use and
its tone is weak and does not carry. A young officer acquiring it most
probably did not intend to use it as a bell as he rarely spent time at
home. The piece was an ornament, one of the attributes of his profession.
