This bell with a handle in the form of a seated woman
with dead game is in the Renaissance style. The body bears a hunting scene
of a deer at bay with horsemen and dogs. The seriousness of the scene
is offset by mascarons of satyrs suggesting a certain frivolity. The very
fine, almost jeweller like treatment of the metal is reminiscent of the
work of French craftsmen in the mid-19th century.
