The mid-19th century was marked by a shift towards the
naturalistic depiction of the surrounding world in the artistic crafts.
This manifested itself in a particular way in bronzes. Sprays of rose
bushes and grape vines, fruits of different kinds, twigs and branches
were all used in the creation of decorative articles. In St Petersburg
this tendency was pursued by the well known bronze factory of Félix
Chopin.
