This design of table bell was one of the most popular
in Russia in the second half of the 19th century. The bell is a miniature
reproduction of the famous Tsar Bell cast for the Dormition Cathedral
of the Moscow Kremlin in 1733-35 by the bell-founders Ivan and Mikhail
Motorin. The mass production of this model of table bell began in the
1850s. It was produced in both bronze and silver.
