In the 1920s Lamanova continued to produce new and interesting
fashion designs. Some of them followed general European trends, something
made possible by the restoration, during the period of the ''New Economic
Policy'', of links with the Paris fashion world that the revolution had
broken.
The striking dress made of black machine lace is embellished with beadwork and a large decorative tassel also made of beads. It is very open and without sleeves. The shape and decoration as well as the colour scheme clearly point to the influence of the Oriental ballet costumes of Léon Bakst and Alexander Benois. |
