The Hermitage-Guggenheim Exhibition Centre
in Las Vegas

The Hermitage-Guggenheim Exhibition Centre in Las Vegas was opened on 7 October 2001.

The Hermitage-Guggenheim Museum is located in the building of The Venetian Resort. Its rooms will be used for exhibitions of works of classical and contemporary art from the collections of the two museums. The exhibitions will change roughly twice a year.

Founded in 1764, the State Hermitage in St Petersburg is one of the greatest museums in the world. It contains some three million items representing the culture and art of the countries of Western Europe, the East, Russia, the Ancient World and primitive society from the most remote times to the present day.

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum possesses a first-class collection of art from the late 19th and 20th centuries, including outstanding works by Beuys, Brancusi, Cezanne, Chagall, Kandinsky, Klee, Leger, Picasso, Rauschenberg, Rothko, Serra and many others.
The first exhibition - Masterpieces and Their Collectors: 19th- and 20th-Century European Painting from the Collections of the State Hermitage and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation - presented 45 superb works that bring out both the differences and the complementary character of the two world-famous collections.
