Repairs to the manifold of the Large Hermitage's closed heating system.
Repairs to the main pipes of the Small Hermitage's heating system

In 2006 routine repairs were carried out on the manifold of the hot-water heating system in the Large Hermitage. In the course of the work, carried out by specialists from the PMF company, modern plumbing equipment made by the company Broen was installed. It allows rapid operational switching and regulation of the system's consumption of heat transfer agent. Instruments make it possible to monitor the temperature and pressure of water in the return pipe and on the basis of those readings to adjust the temperature conditions.

After the repairs and adjustment of the hydraulic parameters it proved possible to achieve stabilization of temperature readings in the Large Hermitage and higher temperatures in the rooms of the Small Hermitage.

The repairs to the main heating pipes in the Small Hermitage were necessitated by the poor condition of the existing pipe, installed in the 1980s in cellar premises often inundated with water.

When repairing the heating system, specialists from the company PMF used modern materials: pipes with special thermal insulation and Broen fittings that make it possible to switch off the heating in separate zones. After the work had been carried out, it proved possible to increase the temperature in the rooms of the New Hermitage.

The work was carried out under the supervision of the Hermitage's Chief Power Engineer, Vladimir Smirnov, in collaboration with his deputy, Oleg Targonsky, and the head of the heating sector, Ludmila Kuzmina.
