Reconstruction and Restoration of the East Wing of the Former General Staff Building. 2009 Results

The year 2009 was marked by the most important phase of the implementation of the first stage of the project Reconstruction and Restoration of the East Wing of the Former General Staff Building. The works are carried out according to the schedule approved by Alexander Avdeev, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation. By the end of December most planned works had been completed. The most significant of them included foundation reinforcement, deepening of basement and damp-proofing, reinforcement of the walls brickwork and installation of floors and ceilings.

The construction of transformer substation and boiler house has been completed. In-situ reinforced concrete floors and skylights have been constructed. Mounting of metal constructions of the roofing frame and girders of the translucent covers in the 4th and 5th courtyards has also been completed. Installation of utility arrangement systems and plastering works inside the rooms are in progress. Works on installation of monolithic constructions of staircases and elevator shafts are at the completion stage. Interior elements, doors and fireplaces are restored in the workshops outside the construction site.

In the process of work implementation, engineering solutions are developed with respect to the actual condition of parts and constructions of the building, analysis of monitoring results and additional inspections.
